PODCAST

This process was fun and allowed me to reflect on my workspace. I learned that iMovie is much easier to use than I initially thought. The only thing I struggled with was getting the audio just right. Next time I will be more careful when selecting my background music. I would like to have a wide catalogue of “how-to” videos one day so that students could watch them at their own pace.
APP REVIEW

Reflection
This was a great opportunity for me to dive deeper into an app that had been on my radar for some time. The possibility of using a free app to do 90% of what a 500 dollar program can do seamed too good to be true so a formal look was much needed. Laying all the pros and cons out was helpful for me as well to see the real world application this could have. Also I came across other apps that would function as competitors to this which gave me even more options for practical application. Really enjoyed this assignment and i could see myself using the reviewing techniques in the future on other applications that i want to incorporate into my class.

3D NOT-A-SPIRIT ANIMAL
Why I chose the lizard.
I like lizards. I see them around a lot. I relate to them on a few levels. I like to do pushups, although my arms are still thin and scrawny. I generally scamper away from communicating with others like myself. My skin is dry and disgusting. I like to stick my tongue out at people. I used to have a tail, but it fell off. Mostly though, like myself, I feel like they are often perceived as cold emotionless creatures. However, I think they do feel those emotions, but their faces just have bigger priorities besides expressing that. They have faces that have evolved to look in the right direction and capture the right prey. They’ve got their priorities straight and I can sympathize with that. Things hit me hard, for better or worse, and I actively try to keep my responses reserved. Sometimes more successfully than others. I guess that’s why I like creating so much. It serves as an appropriate outlet for my emotions. I feel like I currently share a lot in common with the humble lizard, but I also admire them for what they are.
How my model will be used.
I’m intending on attaching a pin to the belly of the lizard so I can wear him on my jacket or hat. He might be a little big for a regular jacket, but I think he’ll feel right at home on my old patched up punk rock army jacket.

AGHH I had so much fun with this project!! Not only will I be letting my students utilize this but I personally look forward to incorporating this into my own practice! 3D programs are deeply intimidating to me but after learning the basics of Tinkercad, I was flying through it. Primarily I focus on two dimensional art however being able to make 3D models and pose them however I want before rendering them into 2D space really opens up a lot of possibilities. I'd love to introduce this process to students and this program makes that possible.

HOW-TO VIDEO
Reflection
I learned so much about streamlining my video process and I see myself heavily utilizing this in my teaching career. I tried to do this all in one take which I would not try again. Going back and watching the video I find the background music distracting at some parts and I personally felt I trailed off onto a few tangents regarding supplies. If i had broken this up into various clips I could have focused on what information was most important and stuck to that. A big reason I felt I needed background music was because I took big pauses especially in the beginning and it felt awkward. I did like the super speedy process videos and some of the off the cusp comments at the end. I didn't want this to be a flawless process video so the little "oops" moments I liked. It made the whole thing less intimidating. Once again the parts i didn't like were the tangents regarding supplies. I feel like i could have saved alot of time in the final video as well as the shooting process if i had planned on maybe two or three cuts. Realistically i would use videos like this to supplement my in person class, but after going back and listening, it seamed like as I filmed I was making this for someone who had never seen a pencil before. My initial thought was that it would save time but when considering the time I spent thinking about where I could make seamless cuts in the video, it probably would have been more efficient to just do a few extra takes. I intend on redoing this video someday before I start teaching so my students can reference it.
